Hurricane Isaias insurance claim help in Pensacola, Florida (2026)
Updated October 20, 2026
By Benji Licht, Florida public adjuster, FL Lic. #W523574
Escambia was one of the hardest-hit counties when Isaias came ashore near Destin, Florida on October 9, 2026. Wind damage to a Pensacola home goes to your homeowners insurer, and a new claim is due by October 9, 2027.
Fourteen insurers and the state set up an insurance hub at the University of West Florida after the storm, and few homeowners came.
Key takeaways
Deadlines: October 9, 2027 for a new claim, April 9, 2028 for a supplemental one (Florida Statute 627.70132).
Stuck with your insurer? The state helpline is 1-877-693-5236.
At the peak, about 75% of Escambia County customers had no power.
Gulf Breeze took more damage than Navarre Beach, which was largely spared.
What did Isaias do to Pensacola?
A hotel roof was torn off in Pensacola and debris covered downtown streets. County emergency management listed five debris piles.
A CBIZ insurance broker told Claims Journal that much of the damage he had seen was below the deductible. Price the repair against your hurricane deductible before you decide how far to take the claim.
Wind goes to your homeowners policy. Rising water goes to flood insurance. If your house took both, photograph each kind on its own and note which rooms took which.
Call with your deductible amount and a roofer's quote, and we will look at whether the damage clears the deductible.
Is the UWF insurance hub still running?
In the week after the storm, insurers and the Florida Department of Financial Services met policyholders on the University of West Florida campus. Before you drive over, call the department's helpline at 1-877-693-5236 and ask what is still open.
Escambia County claim deadlines
Report a new claim by October 9, 2027, one year from landfall. Damage you find later, or repairs that cost more than the insurer paid, can go in a supplemental claim until April 9, 2028.
When the insurer's estimate will not cover a Pensacola roofer
Mark each line where the two numbers disagree and send that list to the insurer in writing.

Navarre and Gulf Breeze after Isaias
Gulf Breeze took more of the storm than Navarre Beach. Along US 98, campers flipped at Camping World, fences and trees came down, and pines blocked Bergren Road, WALA FOX10 reported. WEAR reported a tree on a Gulf Breeze house and a front door that gave way.
Navarre Beach was largely spared, and the fire chief said he had seen no structural damage to houses. Navarre streets and parking lots flooded, and a few buildings lost siding.
The National Weather Service measured gusts of 116 mph at Oriole Beach and 118 mph at Jay. About 90% of Santa Rosa County customers lost power at the peak, and the county administrator called it a huge debris event.
